I wanted Mini Nubians for about 10 years before I finally got my first one. They were the a big part of my dreams of my ideal future life.

My first desire to have goats started when I was a teen and I worked at a wildlife rescue where it was my job to doing evening milking chores much of the days. I fell in love with the Nubians there with how sweet they were, their funny personalities, and I just LOVED their long dangly ears. So it was just always something that I wanted- my farm I could have goats at someday. I had rabbits at that point already and ducks- but lived in a neighborhood- so no goats. I thought I would get standard Nubians at that time as the minis weren’t really a thing then. When I was an adult and lived on my own (with rabbits in my garage in a little neighborhood at the edge of town) I found some stickers of black & tan moonspotted Nubians- I put one on the corner of the bathroom mirror at home and one on my corkboard in my groom room at work- and kept the dream alive for the next 14 years. I was VERY involved in showing rabbits at that time and showed at most Breed Nations and Convention along with regular shows through MI, OH, & IN and larger shows in PA, IL, & WI. Sometime during living at that house I discovered Mini Nubians- but I did NOT like most of the 1st ones I saw- they looked like mutts. Over the years they started looking more like correct Nubians- and I started liking the idea of a small Nubian and they became my research focus. I met my husband and about a year later- we moved to another town- my little farm we put a deposit on fell through and ended up in a neighborhood again. When my son was a senior in high school I went back to school for my nursing degree- cause it was time to get my farm and goats. During those years I amped up my researched, followed breeders, joined FB groups to train my eye better and to learn as much as I could before actually getting my goats. In 2017 I graduated with my RN, we put our town house up for sale, and placed a deposit on where I live now. Closing date got moved alot but we ended up here in Sept 2017, and I had deposits placed with 2 breeders within the month for spring kids. I still prefer minis to look like standard nubians- but to bring in excellent udder traits- I do bring in or keep stock that may lack in the ears I want to breed up from.
