Milk Testing Awards

Mini Nubians are DAIRY goats- 

udder structure and production should play a major role in selecting keepers for anyone raising them to better the breed.  

Milk testing awards/numbers can be an excellent tool 

to help with breeding for production or selecting new lines/animals. 

Things to remember are- not everyone does milk testing- 

barn records and udder faults/strengths/etc are also very important for selecting!! 

Although I LOVE spots and flashy goats (and they are easier to sell if they have them!!) well attached udders and production should rank higher in "must haves" for breeding stock. if you are patient and stick to your guidelines- you will find a goat with everything you want. the bad news is- those ones usually need to be transported in at least several states!!

We plan to participate in the 305 day milk test again in 2027 

We participated in the 305 day milk test in 2020,2021, 2023, & 2025

we do 305 day (& 1 day tests w/ verification tests) every other year so we can dry off early and travel on our years off milk testing. We do send several milk tests in on the years off to to check herd status- but they are not kept in milk much past weaning their kids those years.
